Rock salt has been used as a traditional household dehumidifier since ancient times. Simply pour the liquid in a toilet or sewage drain and refill.

How to use a hygrometer to monitor indoor humidity?

You get an indoor humidity reading by boiling water in a pot. Place your hygrometer just above the open desk. Connect the metal part of your thermometer to the dial – do not touch mercury with your hands or wash your hands after this step. Check that you have chosen Celsius or Fahrenheit, read the number on the dial, and write it down on paper. After waiting for 2 minutes, take note of how much water has evaporated from your pot and calculate the relative humidity value (%RH) according to this formula -%RH = 100*(e-e)/(e) where e=(after evaporation minus before evaporation) and e=initial amount of water in pot.

How do I determine relative humidity?

The relative humidity tells how much water is in the air compared with what’s needed to saturate it. If the relative humidity is 100%, then the air is completely saturated, and adding any more water will cause condensation – with fog, mist, or dew.
Relative humidity may be calculated as:
H = 100% / (RH * Max H) where RH is relative humidity and Max H is max weber capacity of water vapor at a given temperature.
