Step 1: Get the dehumidifier

However, if you don’t want to buy one, you can always make a charcoal dehumidifier in your home. Making a homemade dehumidifier is quite easy.

You just need to follow these pretty simple steps. But still, you need to buy some active charcoals from the nearby shop. Find a large and clean can with a lid. You can collect a large coffee can.

Now, put the active charcoal in the can and put the lid on. At this point, you have to make some holes on the sides of the can. Do the same thing on the lid as well and now the coffee can have become a homemade dehumidifier.

Step 2:  Place It in The Right Place

With the dehumidifier ready on your hand, now you are all set to go to do the next step. You have to identify the pots of your house where the humidity level is quite high. Place the can there correctly.

For instance, you can place it in the bathroom, closet, or basements wherever you want. The active charcoal in the can will absorb the excess moisture from the surrounding environment.

Step 3: Replace the Charcoal Periodically

If you do everything properly as per the instruction, the magic will begin shortly. The charcoal will do its work by absorbing moisture from your room. That is how the humidity level of your home will reduce eventually.

But still, you need to do one more work. You need to replace the charcoal of the can periodically. Typically, you should do it every few months so that the homemade dehumidifier works properly for a longer time.

How You Can Activate Charcoal:

Sometimes, you may not get charcoal in a local shop. For whatsoever reason if you want to make active charcoal on your own, let me show you the proper way. First of all, you need to get some bits of hardwood and put them in a large metal pot so that you can put it over an open fire.

Now, you have to cook it for at least five hours. After that, you have to cool it. Now, rinse the charcoal carefully with cool water. Then, you must grind and dry the charcoal to complete the process.

So, you should always take care of the humidity level and it should not increase over a certain level. When it comes to dehumidifying your house, active charcoal is quite effective.
